Sarkodie took home two other awards, 'Best Rapper of the Year' and the 'Most Popular song of the Year' bringing his total number of awards to three, just two awards short of the five he swept at the awards ceremony in 2010.
Sarkodie had been tipped by many to win more than five awards because he had been nominated more than ten times.
For the most coveted top category of 'Artiste of the Year', Sarkodie warded off competition from Becca, Okyeame Kwame, Efya, 4X4 and Kwaw Kesse. The 'Rapperholic' artiste gets GHC 10,000 as the cash prize for 'Artiste of the Year' and GHC 2,000 for every other category he won.
Okyeame Kwame got two awards with the song "Faithful" featuring Bertha. The categories he won included 'Song Writer of the Year' and 'Best Collaboration of the Year.'Other award winners include Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste (s) of the Year

Before the climax of the awards President of the Musicians Union of Ghana Bice Osei Kufour, who is known in showbiz as Obour, called on his fellow musicians to come together and produce a peace song for the upcoming elections.
According to him, the role of the musician in the country's quest for peace cannot be over emphasised adding that they have to contribute their quota through the peace song. The event was well attended with a number of artiste rocking the stage and keeping the audience recharged for the event. Several celebrities graced the awards night making it the biggest musical event on Ghana's entertainment calender.
